I don’t know if it’s right or wrong to have a favorite, but Gallop is the book—and the cover—I’m happiest with from the Hope and Horses series. My publisher, Margo Dill, wrote an announcement that made me blush and beam.

Book Announcement: Gallop by Cinda Bauman – Hope and Horses 3
May 4, 2026|Editor 911 Books

Editor-911 Books is excited to announce the release of Gallop by Cinda Bauman, the book that completes the Hope and Horses Series! (Available for pre-order, released on May 6) Fans of the series will be excited to read about their favorite characters, Kylie, Joey and Frankie, who meet Eli, a newcomer to the Montana rural community.
Eli has had the worst year of his life. His dad betrayed him by leaving his mom and moving in with Eli’s best friend’s mom. This means that Eli’s dad is now dad to Sam! How is this possible? Eli wonders. He lost his best friend and his dad. Eli’s mom lost her best friend and her husband. And all of this is outside of Eli’s control. Plus, his mom moved him to Lamesville, Montana from Billings.
But here comes Kylie. She knows a little bit about what it’s like to deal with parents who might need some help. Plus she loves her friends, is a ball of energy, and knows that horses can help bring healing. When she invites Eli to The Captain’s Quarters, he meets Tucker (pictured on the cover with Cinda Bauman’s beautiful artwork) who just happens to need a little understanding, too.
Cinda’s books are written for a mainstream audience–middle-grade readers (ages 9-13), and they focus on themes this middle-grade audience can relate to: family challenges, anxiety, crushes, friendship, finding oneself, and more. Additionally, each character struggles with their faith in God in their own way. Cinda tackles the questions that kids often ask: where did God go during all these troubles? How did God let this happen to me? How can I pray when I am struggling so much? Does He listen? The best part about Cinda’s books is that she introduces these concepts in a gentle way, worked into a relatable story full of twists and turns that kids will enjoy. These books are perfect for independent readers or to be shared by an adult reader.
If you are new to the series, you can definitely start with Gallop! These books connect with one another through the characters and setting, but each story is individual. Or pick up all three. Find out more about Shuffle and Fetch.
The Hope and Horses series is available where books are sold as ebooks and print books. We hope you enjoy this wonderful series!
